“By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death…for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” -Hebrews 11:5-6
I’ve read these verses many times throughout my Christian life, often using them to encourage myself to strengthen my faith. But a couple of years ago, I paused and looked again, asking the Lord for deeper understanding. As I meditated on Enoch’s walk with God, I began to examine my own. Quietly, the Holy Spirit stirred questions in my heart: Have I been walking in faith in every area of my life? Do I trust Him with the small things the same way I trust Him with the big things? Have I trusted Him with my lips, but not with my actions? These questions revealed places where my faith needed strengthening, places where I had relied on myself more than on God. The writer describes how Enoch walked with God so closely that he was taken away and did not see death. To walk with God in such intimacy, Enoch had to be a man of tremendous faith — a man whose fellowship with God pleased Him. And in that moment, I realized that true fellowship — the kind Enoch experienced — requires a faith that touches every part of our lives.
Faith is the only way to please God. After salvation, we don’t stop living by faith — we continue trusting Him, seeking Him, and believing that He is present with us and for us. Verse 6 is often read in isolation, but when paired with Enoch’s example, a beautiful revelation emerges: Enoch’s fellowship with God was the reward of his faith. And the writer tells us how to achieve and maintain that same fellowship — by diligently seeking Him. When we seek God, He reveals Himself. He becomes the reward. He unveils His nature, His heart, His character. And knowing Him gives us confidence to trust Him with every aspect of our lives. Our eyes become fixed on Him, not on the issues around us. We stop being influenced by life’s pressures because His grace empowers us to face them while walking with Him. Faith produces a heart that seeks. Seeking produces revelation. Revelation produces confidence. Confidence produces steadfastness. This is the rhythm of fellowship with God. Your communion with Him grows stronger as you live by faith.
Beloved, hide these scriptures deep in your heart as you walk in fellowship with the Father. When you are tempted to rely on your own strength or the systems of this world, remember Enoch. Remember that God rewards those who seek Him. Remember that your faith is not just belief — it is the pathway into deeper communion with Him. He is inviting you to seek Him diligently, to trust Him fully, and to allow your faith to produce a heart that longs for His presence. As you walk with Him, He will reveal Himself more and more, strengthening your confidence and anchoring your life in His nature. He is the reward. He is the promise. He is the One your faith leads you to.

Prayer Moment
Father, deepen our faith today. Grant us courage to face uncertainty knowing You are always with us. Help us remember that faith is a choice to trust You, not a feeling. Renew our minds and wash our hearts in Your Word as we seek You diligently. Amen.
