The Days of the Middle

Scripture

"Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me, your rod and staff, they comfort me."-Psalm 23: 4

There are days in the midst of our storms when everything feels the darkest. You can’t tell which direction you’re headed, and you’re unsure whether the decisions you’re making are helping you move forward or holding you back. The days of discouragement seem endless. You may even wonder if God still hears your prayers—but take heart, Beloved. He is closer than you think. These are the days of the middle—the middle of the hurt, the middle of the struggle, the middle of the illness, the breakup, the financial strain. You’re no longer at the beginning of the season, yet you know you haven’t reached the end of it either. This is the in‑between place where your faith feels stretched and your strength feels thin. But it’s also the place where you remember everything you’ve learned about God’s character. In the middle, He is steady. In the middle, He is present. And in the middle, He is shaping you in ways you cannot yet see.

The days of the middle are opportunities to choose God’s light over despair and discouragement. These are the days that shape you—the days when your actions must align with your confession about who you are as a believer and who He is as your Lord. As you walk through this season, remember that these moments are temporary experiences, not your final destination. Also remember that the Father’s rod and staff are comforting you. This means your Great Shepherd is both fighting for you and supporting you. In the middle, you cling to His presence and allow Him to guide you moment by moment. This is where you apply His Word, trust His heart, and lean into His strength. It is in these middle days that He teaches you how to hold on to hope and persevere with faith.

Beloved, the dark valley days are designed to draw something out of you. They are not only about hardship or pain—these seasons produce faith, endurance, trust, strength, and ultimately spiritual maturity. Be encouraged to shift your perspective about the days of the middle. You have no reason to fear, for He is with you. Lean into His presence and continue growing in His grace.

Prayer

Father, we trust you in the darkest valleys of life. We lean into your strength and allow your light to guide us as we navigate the days of the middle. In Jesus' name. Amen
