Scripture
If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. -Luke 9:23
Do you remember when Joshua challenged the Israelites, “Choose this day whom you will serve”? That same challenge echoes to us today. There comes a point in every believer’s walk when we must decide whether we are going to be fully committed to the Lord. We must choose whether we will place Him above our fleshly desires, above our ambitions, above our personal plans. Will we surrender completely so we can walk in true union with Him? There comes a moment in our journey when we must choose to be all in — no more wavering, no more drawing close only to pull back again. Just wholehearted devotion. Just surrender. Just Him.
Being “all in” with God means surrendering control and laying down our own desires. For many believers, this feels uncomfortable because it seems like losing themselves — but that is exactly the point. Paul reminds us in Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” We exchange our old identity for our new one in Christ by embracing His mindset and His way. This surrender is a daily choice — a deliberate dying to self-centeredness. We choose Him by denying our wants, silencing our fears, and trusting His wisdom over our own. Even in the face of challenges and hardships, we choose Him again and again. This isn’t a one-time moment of devotion, but a continual, intentional practice of yielding our lives to the One who gave everything for us.
So how do we make the daily choice to be all in? It begins with cultivating a fervent prayer life. Prayer is our ongoing dialogue with the Father, and we must intentionally set aside time to commune with Him. Paul urges us to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17), reminding us that prayer is not occasional—it’s continual. Each day, tell Him, “Jesus, I die to myself,” aligning your heart and actions with His will. Allow hardships and challenges to push you into His loving arms rather than trying to face them in your own strength. Let those moments strengthen your faith instead of weakening it. Study the Scriptures so you can know His commands and receive His instructions for daily living. Place a high value on His Word, remembering that “All Scripture is God‑breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). Thoughtfully apply what you read to your life. Beloved, choosing to be all in with the Lord is a daily decision. Every day, our heart’s cry should be a resounding “yes” to His will and “no” to our own desires.
Prayer
Father, we choose to be all in with you. We let go of our self-centered desires and align ourselves with your will. In Jesus' name.
