Scripture
"For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made." -Psalm 139:13-14
Beloved, do you believe that the way you see yourself drives how you show up in life? Do you believe that your self-perspection affects your encounters and responses? They certainly do. Your self-image will drive your decisions in nearly every area of your life. So, how do you see yourself? Do you see yourself as fearfully and wonderfully made? Do you see yourself as chosen and righteous through Christ? Or, do you align with the humanistic worldly standards and performance?
If we see ourselves as anything less than who God called us to be, then we need to clean the mirror because the view is distorted. As a child of the Most High God, we most certainly are chosen, righteous, and wonderfully made. The Father, through His Word, goes to great lengths to tell who you are in Him. We must excavate the scriptures to discover what He's already said. As we're discovering who we are, let's keep a few things in mind. Remember, God looks at your heart, not your outward appearance. “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”(1 Samuel 16:7). He looks at your character and faith rather than how your physical appearance or even your mistakes. Remember, you are redeemed and forgiven, and your past does not define you. (Colossians 1:14). Finally, we are His masterpiece, and we're meant to do good works. (Ephesians 2:10) We are not mistakes or accidents.
Beloved, God was very intentional about us, and we are precious to Him. If you have trouble seeing yourself as He sees you, I encourage you to meditate on the scriptures above. You are fearfully, beautifully, and wonderfully made! Accept it!
Prayer
Father, thank you for loving us so deeply and completely. Please help us to accept who we truly are in you. Amen
