Scripture

You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. -Psalm 139: 16

Every one of our days have been predestined by God. There's already a prescribed plan and purpose for our lives that comes from Him. People often ask, "What's my purpose? Why was I put here?" It's not about our purpose for our lives, but His purpose lived out and manifested in our lives. The scripture above says that every day our lives were recorded in His book. If that is the case, it leaves no room for us to create our own reality and to live out the life we imagined we should live. I Peter 1:2 confirms, ".....who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with His blood." Our role is to cultivate fellowship with the Lord, and as we commune with Him, He will reveal His purpose for our lives. As you devote your life to Him, your heart will shift from desiring knowing your purpose to understanding that He's predestined you long before you arrived in this dispensation. Therefore, it's not so much about you as it is about your submission to His plan for you. He's got the blueprint, and we're to first know the blue print and then follow it.

Here's the problem, the adversary does not want you to follow any blueprint of God. He does not want you to know what God has planned for your life. As a matter of fact, He will perpetuate the 'self' conversation within you so you'll never catch the revelation that it is not about you, but about Him. He'll make you feel like you're the main character when you're really on a piece of the puzzle. Admittedly, because we are His children and many do build a relationship with Him, we receive inspiration in bits and pieces. "I think God wants me to go here" or "I kind of feel like I know what I should be doing"., but there isn't a full assurance. Job 32:8 says, "But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them inspiration" Before you can get the full assurance, the adversary will hijack your attention through distraction. He will use all kinds of devices to fight for your attention. We have everything at our disposal in the 21st century. We're exposed to everything on social media platforms, television programs have become more perverse, and even the music is tainted. Everything is perpetuating a singular focus on self instead of the creator.

Because we receive a little bit of inspiration we bank on it, but God has called us to so much more. How do we receive full assurance? By deepening our devotion to Him, surrender, and dying to self. We can't serve our purposes and His. He reveals His heart for you when you truly commune with Him and when you deny yourself. When it is no longer about your desire or even what you think He might be doing, true revelation will come. Then you will know, Beloved. Otherwise, we leave room for the enemy to hijack our focus. Understand that the purpose you seek really is His. The answers you desire are within His heart and He's waiting for your yielded devotion to reveal them to you.

 Prayer

Father, we shift our focus from ourselves to your plan and will for our lives. We recognize that role that we plan in your grand design and submit in Jesus' name. Amen
