Track Your Growth

Scripture

“So then, just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to walk in him, being rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and overflowing with gratitude”. -Colossians 2:6-7

One thing that I've learned to do as I spiritually mature is to track my growth. What I mean is, I've learned to be intentional about tracking how far I've come as I walk with the Lord. What it does is increase my faith and build my confidence in who He is. Hebrews 11:6 states," Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that He exists and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." As we grow in our knowledge of Christ, we progress from a mere intellectual understanding of Him to a deeper, experiential knowledge of Him. This is a true marker of spiritual growth. Our journey as believers and disciples of Christ is not meant to be lived haphazardly. Sadly, some believers live from day to day with no thought of their spiritual progression. They are just happy to make it through their days, but the Lord has not ordered our steps in this manner. We have been called to live a victorious, faith-filled life. We are to live, behave, and operate as champions.

So, how do you track your growth? The foundation is found in Galatians 5:25, where Paul explained, "Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit." This means that you are to align your actions with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Jesus told the disciples that He would send the 'parakletos', which means one who is called to one's side. He was speaking of the Holy Spirit. We submit to His guidance in every situation, encounter, and trial. Listen to His instructions on how to navigate life's experiences. Once you've overcome, track your victories by keeping a running list. Keep a journal of your victories in Christ. Write about how He pulled you out of danger, snatched you out of the enemy's hands, or ushered you out of that bad relationship. Write down how you were stretched in different areas of your spiritual life, and how He taught you stamina in prayer. Write down your encounters with Him and what happened in your life as a result. Write down how He opened and closed doors in your life. Also, write down how He corrected or rebuked you in certain seasons. This, too, was a part of your growth process.

Beloved, I call these receipts. Once you have done this long enough, you'll see how much you've overcome and grown in the Lord. You'll notice the difference in your writing about your experiences. You'll notice the confidence you displayed in the Lord while He walked you through your trials, the authority you carried while speaking about your situations, and the love you gave in your encounters with others. You will notice how the Lord has spiritually formed you. I track my growth and the revelations at the end of each quarter throughout the year. I encourage you, Beloved, to begin to track your spiritual progression. As the scripture said, you'll be overflowing with gratitude.

Prayer

Father, we thank you for growth. We bring hearts of gratitude today for our spiritual progression in You. We submit to the guidance of your Spirit continually. In Jesus' name. Amen
