Scripture
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. -Matthew 4:4
The word of God is a weapon against the lies that Satan speaks to our hearts. Our everyday life as believers presents challenges and opportunities. We are challenged at times when opposition comes in the form of encounters with people, and opportunities to use the word of God as a weapon against the opposition that comes. Perhaps you're facing challenges on your job, or conflict with those closest to you. These are perfect opportunities to apply the scripture for today's devotional. As tempting as it is lash out and retaliate, we must rely on the authority of the scriptures for guidance and strength to conquer every situation we face, even in our moments of weakness.
Not only do we speak and apply the word through encounters with people, but also when opposition stands in the way of the prophetic word spoken over our lives. In the book of Exodus, when Moses led the people out of Egypt, they came to the Red Sea. You know the story, the Red Sea was before them and Pharoah and his army were advancing. They cried out to the Lord and He said to them, "Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving!" Beloved, God has already placed His word on the inside of you. To that end, when fear shows up as an obstacle between you and your prophetic destiny, you do just as Jesus did and battle fear with the scripture. Do the same thing for pride, jealousy, envy, depression, and any other spirit that shows up to stop you from moving into your destiny.
Beloved, use the word as a weapon when you're all alone. Use the word as a weapon when you're defending your Sonship, and when you're facing temptation. Don't subscribe to the lies of Satan. Counter His lies by shining the light of God's truth upon them. In order for this strategy to be effective for your life, you must study the scriptures. You must know what God's word says about you and any thing you might face in this life. If we're ignorant of God's truth, we are improperly armed against the kingdom of darkness.
Prayer
Father, create in us a hunger for Your Word that is much more necessary for our life than our hunger for food. So that when the time comes, we may use your word as weapon to obtain victory over the enemy. In Jesus' name. Amen
