The Goodness of God

Scripture

For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and His faithfulness continues to each generation. -Psalm 100:5

God is good in every aspect of His being. He is unchanging, and His nature is unchanging. His plans are good, and He is good in His grace. He is good in His forgiveness, and good in His covenant. He is goodness. This scripture is an invitation to praise Him, because all good things come from Him. He exercises His goodness through His kindness to all people. His redemptive love reconciles people to Himself so that they can experience His unending grace and faithfulness. 

His love is unfailing, and this means that His hand will always be on the lives of those who are His. Hebrews 13:5 says, "I will never leave you, never! And I will not loosen my grip on your life!" This is a beautiful promise to those who have been experiencing trouble in their soul, for those who know no goodness in this world. This promise is a keeper for the believer who, because of affliction, feels like they are losing their grip on life. This psalm presents us with a reason to give thanks despite our personal feelings and circumstances. 

Beloved, oh that you would experience His goodness! He can revive seemingly dead situations in our lives and restore our families. As long as we are receiving His goodness and faithfulness, we must give thanks. His love is loyal, enduring, sacrificial, and deep. It will endure throughout all generations. This means as good and kind as He is to us, generations after us will experience the same benevolence. He has never broken a promise, left a believer without His care, or failed to do all He said He would do. Praise Him today, Beloved. For He is good and His mercy endures forever!

Prayer 

Father, you are good, and we thank your unending grace and mercy. Thank you for your faithfulness that endures. We trust in your consistent love for us and our families. Help us serve with gladness as we bless your holy name. In Jesus' name. Amen
