But give reverent honor in your hearts to the Anointed One and treat him as the holy Master of your lives. And if anyone asks about the hope living within you, always be ready to explain your faith. -1Peter 3:15
Jesus told His disciples to go into all the world and preach the gospel and make disciples. This implies that as we mature in the knowledge of God, we are responsible for sharing and giving an account for what we believe. First, to give an account for our faith, we must be anchored in our relationship with Jesus Christ. He must be sovereign in the heart of every believer. This means that Christ must first have supreme authority as Lord on the throne of our hearts. For Him to rule our hearts completely, we must be submitted to His sovereignty and authority.
Simply put, we must become one with Christ. Our submission is vital because it is through His power that we are transformed into a new creation for others around us to recognize. People will see the difference in your disposition, habits, and attitude towards life. I had the pleasure of conversing with women of God who were younger in their faith, and they described how they did not have to proclaim to those around them that they were changed; people could clearly see the change in them. This intrigued those around them, and they began to ask questions. The door has been opened for ministry. When the scripture tells us to be ready, it speaks of a lifestyle of faith and a solid understanding of your faith from scripture. A true relationship with Christ changes us. Much of the change is incremental, but we transform.
Because we've submitted our will to the will of the Father in our relationship with Him, the Holy Spirit teaches and reveals to us who we really are now that we are in Christ. Our conviction about our hope in Christ is strengthened based on this knowledge. Therefore, when the time comes, we should be able to explain the hope that we have in Christ when asked. This hope is rooted in Christ's sacrifice and the promise of salvation and eternal life. People should observe our humility, love, gentleness, and respect while we are speaking with them. When they leave our presence, Beloved, they should have experienced the love of Christ.
Prayer
Father, we thank you that we have been redeemed by the blood of Christ. Give us wisdom to be able to give a defense for our trust in Christ and to give an answer for the blessed hope that we have in Him. Amen
