Unshakeable Confidence

Scripture

Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore, I have set my face like a stone, determined to do his will. And I know that I will not be put to shame. -Isaiah 50:7

She mounted her bicycle. Her training wheels were removed, and her father hovered nearby, just in case she needed him. Armed with the confidence that her dad was there, she began to pedal her bicycle. She rode about ten feet when she started to wobble and lose her balance. She fell to the ground and looked up to see her father there, helping her to her feet. He encouraged her to get back on her bicycle and try again. Because she knew that he'd be there when she fell, she got back on the bike and rode again. Eventually, my daughter learned how to ride her bicycle with confidence.

Beloved, do we have the same confidence in God? Do we endeavor to complete difficult tasks or face trials with the confidence that God is there to give us strength and help us through them? This scripture prophesies about the Messiah's steadfast determination to obey the Lord, knowing that he would face agony. Nothing would turn Him aside. Can we walk with this kind of confidence in God? If you've been a believer for a good amount of time, you are aware that this life is not without trouble. There's the trouble we know we'll face, but there's trouble that catches us off guard. In either situation, we must set our face as flint. We must have unshakeable confidence that God will help and strengthen us to live out our purpose.

We must adopt the resolve that Jesus had. Jesus was steadfast and courageous. We must not bow out of the journey because of the difficulty. Whether you're finishing a degree, starting a business,  dealing with a difficult leader, navigating a marriage, or working on a new project, we must have unshakeable confidence in the Lord. We will not be disgraced. Jesus knew what was before Him, but he had confident assurance in His Father. "If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31). This scripture now applies to us because it first applied to Jesus. If Jesus is victorious, so are we!

Prayer

Father, we ask for your help in the areas of our lives where we're facing challenges. We pray for strength and resolve to remain steadfast in faith, like a flint, even when facing adversity.  We thank you for your promise to never leave us nor forsake us. Amen
