Scripture
"Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us," -Psalm 62:8
The 'unknown' is something that can make us fearful and, at best, uncomfortable. When the unknown is ahead of you, you may feel like it's difficult to make plans. It's the unease you feel when walking on a once solid foundation, but it has suddenly become shaky. This is the feeling of my colleagues as we anticipate returning to work without a leader. Before the staff went on intersession for the summer, we knew in part what the new year would bring. However, without warning, we discovered we no longer had a leader. Many questions began to form in our minds about how long the process of hiring a new leader would take, who the leader would be, and whether or not they'd be a good fit for our organization. The unknown can be discouraging.
When we don't have all the answers in life, we may find difficulty in navigating a path forward. It wanes our confidence because we don't know what to expect. There are many variables to consider. The blessing in the unknown is that it produces an opportunity to rely on our relationship with the Father. He is all-knowing, and we can trust in Him. When life is uncertain, He has all of the answers. The scripture above encourages us to pour out our hearts before Him. During the times of uncertainty, we can pour our fears, concerns, and even disappointments to Him. He will be there for us as a refuge. He will strengthen us so that we can walk into the unknown with confidence, knowing that He is with us.
Beloved, if you find yourself facing layers of uncertainty in your life, be encouraged today. Know that we can trust in God at all times, no matter the situation. Be honest with Him about how you're feeling and rely on Him as He carries you through the situation that is ahead of you.
Prayer
Father, as we face the unknown in life, we choose to trust you. We cast all of our concerns onto you because we know that you are a refuge and fortress for us. Amen
