Scripture
And he spake a parable unto them to the end that they ought always to pray, and not to faint. -Luke 18:1
"By design, believers are people of prayer. Prayer is not what you do, it's who you are." These words were spoken to my heart by the Holy Spirit. I was facing multiple situations, and I was getting discouraged. I was praying, but I hadn't seen any relief in what I was going through. I sat silently as tears ran down my cheeks. I was waiting for the Lord to rush to my side and answer my prayers, but He reminded me of the scripture above.
He uses moments like this to teach me and mature me in my spiritual walk. He showed me that prayer is how we execute life. Jesus said in the scripture that men ought to always pray and not faint. This tells me that fainting is the opposite of prayer, not prayerlessness. Fainting suggests weakness in the scripture. So, Jesus was saying to us, keep persevering in prayer so that you won't grow weak. The trials of this life can make us lose heart and grow weary, but our persevering in prayer displays our faith and trust in God's character and faithfulness. In essence, prayer makes us stronger, and a lack of prayer puts our spiritual life on life support.
Beloved, if we're not praying, we're fainting indeed. When you pray, you receive divine enablement to walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:3 says, "Yet those that wait for the Lord will gain new strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run and not get tired, and they will walk and not become weary." The Holy Spirit was teaching me that Christians are praying people, and we should engage God as a daily habit. Beloved, is your spiritual life strengthened because of prayer, or is it on life support because you're fainting?
Prayer
Father, your word admonishes us to pray always and not lose heart. Please give us the divine enablement to continue in prayer so that we don't grow weary. We pray to develop your patience in prayer while we wait for answers from you. Amen
