Where Is Your Faith?

Scripture

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. -Hebrews 11:1

The more I engage God in prayer, the more my faith increases. My belief that every situation will be worked out, and God's favor will be on my endeavors, becomes a reality in my spirit. I realize that I doubt much less when issues arise, and I find that I don't lose my peace when things look different than what I expected. He taught me to approach Him with the belief that what I ask for will come to pass.

The key is my engagement with God in prayer. It's our fellowship with Him in prayer that is vital to the increase in our faith. When we engage with God, the Holy Spirit comes and brings to reality the things God is speaking to our hearts. That substance anchors our spirits and causes us not to doubt. The things we hope for exist in the realm of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit comes to bear witness with our spirit that those things we cannot see (those things we're hoping for, but don't see them yet) are real.

I liken it to going to a store to purchase an item. When I go to the register to receive the thing that I want, I have to provide currency in exchange. The success of the transaction depends on my providing the currency. The transaction of prayer is done on the currency of faith. Beloved, is faith the currency you provide in your transaction of prayer to the Lord? If we approach God without faith, it's just mechanical, and we can be assured that we will not get our desired results.

Prayer

Father, your Word tells us that “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” We acknowledge that our understanding is limited, and we lean on you for guidance and wisdom in all we do. Please help us grow strong in the faith and show a passion for your Word that draws others to you.  Amen
