Scripture
So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, 'Come back to God!' -2 Corinthians 5:20
Jesus' ministry was centered on reconciling humanity to His Father and restoring a broken relationship caused by sin. Reconciliation was achieved through his death and resurrection, which provides forgiveness and a pathway back to God. Because of His death and resurrection, peace has been made between the world and our Lord. The world simply has to accept this gift. How will they know they have access? The answer is the sons and daughters of God. Paul penned the words above in his letter to the Corinthians, explaining his mission in life. He was called by God to take the message of reconciliation through faith in Christ to the people.
We are also charged to do the same. As believers, we should be appealing to the people around us on behalf of Christ to come back to God. We let them know that they have access, they are loved, and they are wanted by God. So, reader, ask yourself these questions: Am I standing as a representative of Christ? Do I take advantage of my sphere of influence? Does my life attract others to the Father? Only you know the answer to these questions.
The message has not changed in the 2,000 years since Paul wrote those words. The charge given to the disciples is given to you and me. The message of reconciliation can be shared to the people through our lives, our kind words, through our friendship, through our compassion, through our hugs, and most importantly, through our love. Not everyone is called to the pulpit, but everyone is called to show godly love to others so thoroughly that they are drawn to Him who saves. Beloved, what does the world see in you?
Prayer
Father, we thank you for Christ's selfless love and sacrifice that made reconciliation to you possible. We ask for your guidance as we strive to be instruments of reconciliation, spreading your message of peace and healing in our own lives and the lives of those around us. We submit our lives to this cause in Jesus' name. Amen
