The Ministry of the Watchmen

“Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them a warning from me. -Ezekiel  3:17

A Call to Arise 

God is calling watchmen to arise in this hour. His call is for those who will stand in this sacred position to watch in the spirit, warn, and pray consistently. Watchmen, what is God saying? What do you see? 

He's beckoning those who are called to this place. Watchmen are needed in this hour of darkness in this world. He's calling watchmen to wake up and rise in this hour. They are admonished to sound the alarm, for the enemy is near. 

 

Role of a Spiritual Watchman

Watchmen are those who discern and proclaim God's message. They must have spiritual sight and discernment to perceive dangers that others might miss. The watchman's duty is to blow the trumpet (figuratively) and sound the alarm, clearly communicating God's warning and the consequences of disobedience. They also warn the people of God of the plans of the enemy. They call people to repentance from sin and warn them of impending judgment.

Watchman Accountability 

But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand.- Ezekiel 33:6 

God holds the watchman accountable if they fail to deliver the warning. If they warn, and people ignore it, then the people are responsible for their own fate. 

The Watchman as the Intercessor 

The watchman does not always see to warn, but to intercede. The watchman must discern the timing and season for specific words from the Lord. Their ears must be circumcised to hear God's instruction clearly. Watchmen also step into the role of the intercessor and remind the Lord of His promises. Often, the watchman prays with a prophetic eye, interceding with specific insight from God to protect individuals, churches, and nations. 

The Watchman Perceives 

The duty of the watchman is prophetic in nature. It involves a unique capacity to perceive threats, intercede with prophetic burdens. They are equipped to see spiritual realities that others might miss. There's a strong ability to perceive God's movements and potential threats from the enemy. 

Core Duties of the Watchman in the Body of Christ 

-Warning against sin and impending judgment

-Warning against the plans of the enemy

-Encourage righteousness

-Guard against spiritual complacency

-Personal and corporate accountability

-Intercessory Prayer
