Rejoicing Before the Answer

Scripture

“But let them all be glad, those who turn aside to hide themselves in you. May they keep shouting for joy forever! Overshadow them in your presence as they sing and rejoice. Then every lover of your name will burst forth with endless joy.” —Psalm 5:11

Recently, I began examining the level of trust I was placing in the Lord. I discovered that it was easier for me to experience peace when I still had some ability to influence the outcome. As long as I had a plan, a resource, or an option I could use, I believed I was walking in faith. However, the Lord gently revealed that some of what I had labeled as trust was actually confidence in myself. When I encountered a situation that was completely beyond my control—one that my plans and resources could not resolve—joy did not rise within me. Fear and anxiety did. Without realizing it, I had connected my peace to my ability to see a solution.

Beloved, perhaps you have found yourself in this place too. You trust God, but you feel safer when you can trace the path ahead. Yet there is a kind of trust that rejoices before the answer appears. It does not deny the difficulty of the trial or require you to pretend that uncertainty is painless. It is the settled assurance that although the situation may be beyond your control, it has never been beyond God’s. Those who love His name know, honor, and cherish the fullness of His character. They trust His heart when they cannot trace His hand. God does not condemn us when fear exposes the places where our trust is still growing. Instead, He lovingly invites us to release our dependence on ourselves and find refuge beneath the covering of His presence. The joy of the righteous is not rooted in favorable circumstances; it rises from knowing that God remains faithful, present, and sovereign in every circumstance.

Therefore, do not wait for every question to be answered before you rejoice. Release the outcome you have been trying to control and place it into the hands of the Father. Let your praise declare that your confidence is no longer in what you can accomplish, prevent, or understand. You may not know how the situation will unfold, but you know the One who surrounds you with favor as with a shield. You know His character. You know His faithfulness. You know His name. Take refuge in Him, beloved. Lift your voice and rejoice before the answer comes, knowing that you are overshadowed by His presence, surrounded by His favor, and held securely by the God who has never failed you.

Reflection Pause: Sometimes our deepest fears reveal the places where we are still relying upon our own strength. Pause for a moment and allow the Lord to show you where He is inviting you to trust Him more deeply. Have I placed my trust fully in God, or is my peace still dependent upon my ability to control the outcome?

Prayer Moment

Father, help me release what I cannot control and trust Your heart when I cannot see Your hand. Let praise rise within me before the answer comes, knowing that You are faithful and Your presence surrounds me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
