“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” -Psalm 46:10
Life has a way of speeding up without asking permission. Responsibilities multiply, expectations rise, and even the good things begin to feel heavy. Some days I find myself longing for seasons when life felt slower — not because I want to go back, but because I want to breathe again. One morning, in the middle of that familiar rush, I felt myself moving from task to task without ever pausing to be present. I wasn’t doing anything wrong — just everything at once. And in that moment, the Lord whispered into the noise: “Be still.” It was an invitation to stop striving. Not stop living. Not stop growing. But stop striving. It was the kind of moment where you realize you’ve been carrying more than God ever asked you to hold.
Right there, Psalm 46:10 came alive. Stillness isn’t inactivity — it’s surrender. In the Hebrew, “still” means to slacken, cease, withdraw, let go. It’s an invitation to step out of self‑effort and into divine rest. The Lord showed me that busyness can become a distraction, even when the tasks are good. We are not meant to be the superheroes of our own stories. We are meant to be the ones who trust Him while we're working. Ephesians 6:12 reminded me why stillness matters: so much of what we face is invisible. We wrestle against spiritual forces, not flesh and blood. God isn’t calling us out of the battle — He’s calling us out of fighting it in our own strength. Stillness is not weakness. Stillness is warfare. Stillness is trust. It is the posture where His peace quiets our minds and His sovereignty steadies our hearts.
Beloved, ceasing from striving is how you acknowledge that He is God — not you. Stillness is the place where you remember who He has been to you: provider, protector, healer, way maker, deliverer. He is bigger than your opposition, seen and unseen. In His presence, worry loses its voice. Anxiety loses its grip. Striving loses its power. God is always exercising His authority. He is always ruling, always guiding, always covering. He simply asks you to cooperate by surrendering. Beloved, will you cease striving in your own strength and allow God to be exalted over everything you’re facing?

Father, we choose to be still and know that You are God. Quiet our striving and steady our hearts in Your presence. We rely on your strength and your wisdom on this journey. Amen.
