Psalm 24:1 — “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness of it, the world and they who dwell in it.”
All of humanity exists because of God. Every breath, every heartbeat, every movement is sustained by the One who holds creation together. He is not distant or detached; He displays His immanence — His intimate presence and active involvement — in every corner of the universe. The closer you walk with the Lord, the more you begin to understand who He truly is. He does not simply save you from sin to spare you from eternal separation; He saves you to Himself. He desires to be known, encountered, and loved. As you begin to grasp His thoughts and His plans for humanity, your heart grows tender toward Him, and you find yourself falling more deeply in love with the King. Your existence is rooted in Him, your purpose flows from Him, and your identity is revealed through Him. Nothing lives outside His sustaining presence.
I’ve learned this in my own walk with God. The more I leaned into His presence, the more I realized that He is not inaccessible or aloof. He is deeply connected to the workings of the universe and intimately involved in the details of our lives. As I began to understand His heart for humanity, something shifted within me — my affections softened, my awareness deepened, and I found myself loving Him in new ways. I discovered that He is not merely the Creator; He is the Sustainer, the One who guides, reveals, strengthens, and upholds. My dependence began to shift from my own wisdom and the systems of the world to the One who gives life itself. And in that dependence, I found rest, clarity, and renewed devotion. I also found that this shift is a part of a larger process of sanctification in my life.
Beloved, Paul spoke these truths to the Athenian philosophers — men surrounded by idols and false gods — yet his words echo to us today. We are not living this life alone. We do not face challenges or battles in isolation. Our God, who is intimately connected to His creation, is closer than we think. Paul reminds us, “That they should seek God… although He is not far from each one of us” (Acts 17:27). You can face each day with confidence, knowing that the God who holds the world together is actively working in your situation. He is near, present, involved, and sustaining you moment by moment. So, Beloved, relax and breathe — you are not in this alone. The Sustainer is with you, and in Him you live, and move, and have your being.
Reflection Pause: Where is God inviting you to shift your dependence from your own strength to His sustaining presence?
Prayer Moment
Father, thank You that in You we live, and move, and have our being. Thank You for being the ultimate source and sustainer of all life. May our actions, movements, and decisions bring glory to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
