Scripture
"Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness". -Romans 6:13
The life of a believer should be wholly dedicated to the Lord, our God. We've been adopted into His family through Jesus Christ, and we praise Him for this truth. We no longer serve in the kingdom of darkness, and there should be proof of this in our daily lives. Paul is calling for believers to make a daily, conscious choice to dedicate their actions, eyes, hands, and mind to God's service rather than sinful desires. Our lives are now reserved just for Him and His purpose. We are called to live for Him through consecration.
What is a life reserved for Him? It's a living, ongoing commitment to God. It means that we separate ourselves from the world's way to be used by God. Living life in this manner is a personal choice resulting from a deep personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. In the course of our walk with the Lord, we transition from obligatory actions to voluntary actions motivated by love and dedication to Him. As we determine to live a life consecrated to God, we don't allow our instruments (eyes, hands, mind) to be used commit sinful deeds. They are no longer tools for the enemy to advance the kingdom of darkness, but are set apart for the Master's use. A reserved life is the total surrender of one's life, will, and body unto the Lord for His purpose. We live consciously of the new life in Christ, which gives us the grace to turn away from the old, dead life.
Beloved, here are some practical applications to living a life set apart for God. First, we consciously offer our bodies to God daily. No matter how mundane it feels, everything we do is in service to Him. Next, we actively resist sinful impulses and suggestions. We are children of God, but we are still in this human body, which is subject to temptations and suggestions from the enemy. We are to consciously choose to use our bodies for righteous works. Finally, we understand that we have the power to make choices that align with the will of God. This means that we are not helpless. Every decision we make, good or bad, is by our own will. We have the power (grace) through Jesus Christ to stop letting sin reign in our lives. So, reserving your life for Him is a choice, Beloved. Choose to live only for Him.
