Engage Your Community

Scripture

A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple strand braided cord is not easily broken. -Ecclesiastes 4: 12

So often people tend to feel alone as they strive to live out their lives as disciples of Christ. The truth is, though we feel like we're shouldering the pains and ills of life by ourselves, the Word of God encourages us that we're never alone. Not only did He send His Holy Spirit to comfort us, He has placed believers around us who, through Him, will help build us up when we need it. The question is, are we engaging in the Christian community that He's placed us in? Are we building relationships and community with our brothers and sisters in Christ? The scripture above emphasizes mutual encouragement, community, and ongoing spiritual growth as we face this life together.

Beloved, we were never meant to walk out our faith all alone. There is strength in unity and the community. It is unnecessary to take on life's battles alone. Leviticus 26:8 says, "Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand! All your enemies will fall beneath your sword". God was promising that when the people are united in following Him, the power of the people multiplied. As we unite as a community to follow Him, we'll find that our strength to face life's challenges increases.  We're being encouraged that many believers standing together is better than one trying to take on life's circumstances. They offer each other strength, support, and protection through encouragement and prayer.

Though you may feel alone, know that you are not alone, Beloved. Engage with the fellow believers in your life by calling them or even having a meal together. Through your fellowship, you may find that they need you as much as you need them. This  Christian life is meant to be lived in fellowship, creating a resilient, unified community. Be intentional, Beloved, someone needs you.

Prayer

Father, help us to be a source of strength, comfort, and faith to those around us, rather than focusing only on our needs. Use our words and actions to lift others up and strengthen the body of Christ, just as we are called to do. In Jesus' name, Amen
