Scripture
"But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added." -Matthew 6:33
As we have crossed the threshold of a brand new year, have you prayed about the year ahead, Beloved? The Father would love for us to seek Him concerning future plans for the year ahead because He cares about what we care about. The Lord longs to be involved in every part of our lives. He wants to be the one we seek when we have to make a major decision this year. He wants to be with us as we transition in our careers, enter new relationships, and even end the old ones. He wants to be the first resort, not the last one when we face difficult challenges this year.
As the scripture admonishes, we are to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, then those other things we ask for in prayer, will be given to us if we believe. Notice the promise there, Beloved? Let's not trudge forward into this year before we lay our plans before Him. Our confidence must be in Him, not our plans and ambitions. There are many benefits to the believer who seek Him first by asking in prayer. First, we get to cast off anxieties to Him. Peter encouraged us to cast our cares on Him because He cares for us. (I Peter 5:7). Second, we are able to embrace this new year with faith and hope instead of fear of the unknown. Third, seeking Him for the new year ahead gives Him the opportunity to remind us of His promises for provision, and His presence as we walk out this year with Him. Finally, seeking the Lord in prayer for the new year allows us to receive His guidance for what lies ahead for us. Let's yield our hearts to Him and pivot if our plans don't align with His will.
So, as we seek Him, let's reflect on the past year and thank Him for His faithfulness even when situations were rough. Let's entrust our plans to Him and be willing to follow His instructions. We must trust that He is the One guiding our steps. Ask Him for the strength and courage as you face the year, and intercede for others as they are seeking His guidance as well. Happy New Year, Beloved!
Prayer
Father, thank you for your guidance as we move forward into this New Year. We submit our ways and our plans to you, and ask for your guidance and counsel. In Jesus' name. Amen
