"Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you. -Psalm 33:20-22
Many believers have received a word from the Lord Himself or have heard Him speak through another servant. They've received the word with gladness and rejoiced in the promise. Then, they waited. They believe that if He said it will come to pass, but it hasn't happened yet. So, what happens while we wait? While we wait on God, we actively trust in Him, pray for His guidance, meditate on scripture, and maintain hope. This is not a time for passivity, but an opportunity for spiritual growth. Additionally, this is a time when we align with God's will so that we can receive the promise. Maintain this posture even when situations seem hopeless. We are to wait on the Lord eagerly.
Perhaps God desires for us to do specific things in our period of waiting. We seek His wisdom and guidance on how to execute His instructions. Study the scriptures and locate the one(s) that apply to your promise and meditate on it. God told Joshua to meditate on the word day and night so he would do everything in it, and have success. (Joshua 1:8). As we wait, trust that everything will work out His purposes, even when we can't see that it will. Jesus prayed, "Thy will be done in heaven and in earth." (Matthew 6:10). We can connect with other brothers and sisters in the Body of Christ for support. "If you two of your shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it will be done for them of my Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 18:19:20).
Finally, Beloved, we must accept God's timing and rejoice in His love for us. His timing is not the same as ours, and we must submit to His will and trust that when the promise arrives, it has come at the right time. As we wait, we do so in the confidence of God's unending love and power, which is always working for your good. Let us rejoice that God is not slack concerning His promises, and if He said, it shall come to pass.
Prayer
Father, we hold on to our hope in you as we wait on your promise. With renewed faith, we confidently trust in your word. In Jesus' name. Amen
