Scripture
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. -Isaiah 41:10
Have you ever found yourself in a place where the more you are determined to behave and respond differently to a situation, the worse it gets? As I approach a new school year without a leader, I have decided that I will behave differently. Historically, uncertainty has made me uneasy. Instead of giving in to doubt and uncertainty, I was going to remain in faith. I was presented with the opportunity to teach a writing class, and I was initially excited. There were facets of this class that were agreeable for me, but then changes began to take place. Two grade levels in the course turned to three, and since school started, more and more students were being added to the course. Then, finally, four weeks into the course, a precious student who spoke no English was added to my Creative Writing course. This is where the real test began. My first thought was, "How am I going to teach a child who does not speak or write English, creative writing?" Despite all that I had declared, discouragement was beginning to set in. BUT GOD!
I cannot say that I have to come to terms with this circumstance before me, but I can say that the Lord is not slack concerning His promises. Immediately, the Holy Spirit began to encourage me. He reminded me to rest in Him and that the Lord is in full control of the situation. I am reminded that I am not alone as I navigate this complex situation. The Lord will help me. The first thing the Holy Spirit confronted in me was my declaration. He reminded me of who I am and who I belong to. My situation does not change the truth of the Word, nor does it change who I am. As I surrender to the Holy Spirit, He will guide me through this and any other circumstance that I might face this year.
Beloved, be encouraged today. As you walk in fellowship with the Lord, He will transform you. In many cases, we realize that we've been changed as we face trials in our lives. What do you do when the unexpected happens? What do you do when a situation you're facing worsens? You draw closer and allow the Holy Spirit to remind you that you're not alone and He will help you.
Prayer
Father, we rely on your strength today as we navigate the affairs of our lives. Thank you for upholding us and keeping us. We surrender to you and will follow your voice through all of our situations. In Jesus' name. Amen.
