God's Perspective

Scripture

Yes, feast on the treasures of the heavenly realm and fill your thoughts with heavenly realities, and not with the distractions of the natural realm. -Colossians 3:2

Beloved, believe it or not, there is a supernatural fight for your attention. In your process of growing and maturing in the Lord, trials and situations will abound to cause distraction from your true purpose. The unfortunate truth is that if we are not discerning, these distractions will keep us off track for years and delay what God has in store for us. In every aspect of your spiritual walk, adopt a God perspective. How do you do this? By doing exactly as this scripture above suggests. Focus your thoughts and affections on the heavenly realm rather than these earthly situations. Am I telling you to be pretentious? No.

This scripture means that you simply shift your focus. Stop allowing the things that threaten you in the valley of the shadow of death to produce realities that God did not create for your life. This shift in your focus is a deliberate process, not a passive one. You must pay attention to your thinking, triggers, and behavior. Replace these with thinking and behavior that will glorify God. When the enemy suggests lies in the form of thoughts, counteract them with the truth of God's word. Apply scriptures like Philippians 4:8, where Paul tells the Philippians to think on things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and commendable. When the situations and trials persist, pray more than you ever have.

Shifting to God's perspective means you are actively seeking His face for wisdom and guidance. It means that you are creating space in your life to study His word. It means continuously walking in forgiveness and humility. It means relying on and being accountable to mature believers in your faith community. It also means identifying and challenging negative thought patterns with declarations of the Word. Beloved, show yourself grace because this shift is a process. You simply have to engage in the process.

Prayer

Father, we pray that your Holy Spirit help us to shift our focus from earthly things to the heavenly realm. We will submit to your process to shift us in this season of our spiritual walk. In Jesus' name. Amen
