Scripture
Listen, O my people, to my instruction; Incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old. We will not conceal them from their children, but tell to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength and His wondrous works that He has done. That they should put their confidence in God and not forget the works of God, but keep His commands. - Psalm 78:1-2;4;7
He led the Israelites out of Egypt and parted the Red Sea. He brought down the walls of Jericho. He ushered them into their promised land. He protected the Israelites with angelic armies and chariots of fire against the Aramean army. The Israelites received manna from heaven, and God gave them fire by night and a cloud to guide them by day. He fed Elijah with ravens while he was hiding out. He saved Daniel from the den of lions. Jesus healed the lepers and delivered the demonically possessed. All of these miracles, signs, and wonders! We have these reminders and so much more recorded in the scriptures of the miraculous move of God, yet we get tempted to doubt Him when our situations seemingly don't work out.
Last year, the questions that were asked on multiple occasions in our Sunday School class were these: If the children of Israel experienced continuous miracles from God, why were they disobedient and at times doubtful? Why were they so quick to forget all that God had already done for them? The same question can be asked of our generation today. The enemy works very hard to distract us from these testimonies with hardships because he wants us to forget, and he doesn't want us to influence anyone else. In the book of Deuteronomy, the people are admonished to keep the commandments, statutes, and testimonies of God. We must never forget! Don't ever lose your awe of God for His wondrous works. It's your awe of Him that will cause your faith to grow. You may not understand all that's happening in your Christian walk, but you know that you are firmly planted in His hand, and you are trusting Him completely. This is the posture of someone who's in awe of God. Keep His works before you in your conversation with people. Out of your awe for Him, thanking Him is easy. Worship from this place will be automatic. We trust Him when we don't understand Him, and that is perfectly normal. Who can fathom the ways of God? Don't ever believe you know all there is to know about God. This is where you limit Him, because your understanding is limited. Nothing is impossible with God.
His nature is revealed in His signs, wonders, and miracles. It's the testimony of God's works that will sustain you through tribulations. Beloved, keep your eyes on what God is doing, what He's done, and not what He hasn't done. If He did it before, He'll do it again. You will influence those around you to follow Him.
Prayer
Lord, we'll keep your works before us. We'll testify to your signs and wonders to our children. We'll increase our faith in you and influence those around us. Amen
