Scripture
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. -James 4:8
Many of us have heard this verse spoken over our lives at different points in our journey with God. As we move through Scripture, we see men and women who pursued Him with longing—crying out to Him, seeking Him, worshipping Him with their whole hearts. They were drawing near. And just as meaningful fellowship with anyone requires time, attention, and intentionality, so does fellowship with God. Pursuing His heart is not passive; it is a continual turning toward Him in love and surrender. The passage above comes from an admonishment urging believers to submit to God, resist the enemy, and watch him flee. But the instruction doesn’t end there—the author calls us to draw near to God. Drawing near is the posture that keeps our hearts soft, our spirits attentive, and our lives anchored in Him.
Reflection Pause: How will you intentionally draw near to God with surrender today?
Drawing near to God is a gentle, intentional movement of the heart. It begins with remembering His promise: when we draw near to Him, He draws near to us. One of the most sacred ways we come close is through prayer—steady, sincere communication that keeps our hearts turned toward His presence. Scripture encourages us to pray without ceasing, not out of duty, but out of desire for deeper fellowship with the One who loves us. We also draw near through worship. Every act of worship—whether singing, bowing, lifting hands, or sitting quietly before Him—is an expression of longing for closeness. Worship is not merely an action; it is a posture of the heart that says, “Lord, I want You.” And another tender way we draw near is simply by communing with Him—resting in His presence, listening for His voice, and enjoying the stillness where He speaks.
Reflection Pause: How will you intentionally draw near to God’s presence in prayer, worship, or quiet communion today?
Beloved, drawing near to God is a holy exchange of love and longing. As you pursue Him with sincerity and zeal, He responds by meeting you with His presence. He desires to be close to His people. Drawing near not only strengthens our ability to resist the enemy—it shapes us into a holy people. It softens our hearts, deepens our love for others, and teaches us to live from the reality of His Kingdom rather than our own limited perspective. Beloved, draw near to God today. He is eager—joyfully eager—to draw near to you.
Journal Reflection: Write about where God is inviting you draw nearer so you can live more fully from His presence?

I love this. And this comes at the best time with apostle talking about the door closing, but yet we’re so near. We have to continue to seek Him out. He will definitely meet us. ❤️
