True to His Word

Scripture

".....And you have done what you promised, for you are always true to your word." -Nehemiah 9:8

One of my favorite songs is called "Olorun Agbaye" (You Are Mighty). I listen to it quite regularly, and there are a few lines that stir my heart: "There is nothing you cannot do. There's no mountain you cannot move. If you have said it, then you will do it. You have a track record of keeping your word. You're not about to stop doing it now." These lyrics encourage me because, as God grants me the privilege of knowing Him better, I realize how absurd it is to doubt Him. To know Him intimately is to trust Him. When His true nature is revealed, the only response is reverence. When God's nature is made known to you, the spirit of understanding (revelation) is manifested in your life through the Holy Spirit. Scriptures that you've read repeatedly come alive in your spirit. Lyrics in certain songs take on a new meaning for you.

God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through? (Numbers 23:19) Well Beloved, has He ever lied? Has He ever changed His mind? Did He fail to act? Was He slack concerning His promises? Certainly not! God will always fulfill His promises to His children. If God said it, then He'll do it. We have to believe it! We strengthen our belief in His promises through our fellowship with Him. The Word of God provides the evidence that He foreknew you, chose you, and predestined you before the foundation of the world. (Romans 8:29-30) This is why He could tell Judah through the prophet Jeremiah that He knew the plans He had for them. Despite their discomfort in captivity, there was still a promise of hope and peace.

Beloved, the Word is full of fulfilled promises from the Lord. As you cultivate a deeper fellowship with Him, the Holy Spirit will connect the truth of the scriptures for you. You will have a true revelation of Him and His plan for your salvation. You will see that you were set up to win long before you were born. The doubt and uncertainty about your situation will diminish, and you will live in the truth of His word: A new creation, victorious in Christ.

Prayer

Father, we believe every promise you've spoken over our lives. Thank you for being true to your word! Amen
