Growth and Development

Scripture

And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and favor with God and men. -Luke 2:52

One thing that has become abundantly clear as I walk with God is that my growth and development are paramount to Him. He made it clear that He wasn't concerned about my spiritual growth alone, but He wanted me to grow as a person. You know, religion doesn't allow for a God who is concerned with your success as a person. This is why it is so important for believers to be intentional in their pursuit of God's heart. Beloved, have you ever asked God what His thoughts were on your growth and development as a person?

Jesus knew who He was and who He was to become, but nowhere in Scripture do you read that He stepped out before His time. He grew up living a normal human life. He fulfilled His responsibilities to His family. He loved God and proved Himself faithful in many small things before His ministry began. He proved himself. We are to do the same. The person God has predestined for you to become is developed in you. You don't automatically become this person because it has been revealed. Just as Jesus grew and developed in life, so should we. One reason having a relationship with God is key to your growth and development is that His Holy Spirit will guide you. He will teach you and reveal pertinent information about yourself and your path at the right time. You have to be plugged in.

Not only did Jesus grow as a person, but He also grew in His relationship with His heavenly Father. At the same time, He grew in His human connections with friends and family. Whether we are called to ministry or the marketplace, when God reveals destiny and purpose to us, it is tempting to run ahead and make these things happen for ourselves. The truth is, the Holy Spirit has to develop us and help us grow. It is also important to gain favor with others on our journey. Many believers are trying to operate in spaces that they have not been commissioned to operate in.  As we grow, we gain wisdom. That favor among men comes when it has been proven that we are who we claim to be. Beloved, growth and development are a process. Are you willing to submit to the process?

Prayer

Father, we seek your guidance and wisdom as we pursue growth and development in all areas of our lives. Please help us to overcome challenges, learn from our mistakes, and become the people you created us to be. Amen
