Walking in Obedience

Scripture

"Love the Lord your God and keep his requirements, decrees, laws, and commands always". - Deuteronomy 11:1

Love is vital in the Kingdom of God. We are admonished by scriptures to walk in love. One of the qualities of Jesus Christ that we must possess is  love. It's the foundation of all other qualities of His nature. More importantly, we are called to love our God. Loving Him is a choice that we make. There are many things that we can give God, but if we don't give Him our love, we've given nothing because God is love.

Because we love God, we can walk in obedience to Him. When we truly love God, one of our chief desires is to please Him. The extent to which we obey God mirrors our love for Him. John 14:15 states: "If you love me, keep my commands." Love and obedience are closely linked in the life of a believer. For Christ, real love is shown through our obedience.

Beloved, let's examine ourselves. Do we love the Lord our God? If the answer is yes, then do we obey his commands, laws, and decrees? Obedience is a fruit that is produced as a result of love for the Father. Are there areas of our lives where we have not displayed obedience to Him? Let's be honest about what this says about us.

Prayer

Father, we repent of disobedience today. Our desire is to please you because we love you. We humbly come before you, acknowledging our need for your guidance and strength. Help is to discern your will and to walk in obedience to your laws, commands, and decrees in Jesus' name. Amen
