Take the Step

Scripture

“Have I not commanded you to be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”- Joshua 1:9

I've noticed that some of the most challenging moments in my walk with God haven't been the seasons of waiting, but the moments when He asked me to move. There is something unsettling about standing at the edge of a new season, knowing God is calling you forward while not knowing exactly what awaits on the other side. I've prayed for clarity, wished for a detailed blueprint, and wanted reassurance that every step would work out exactly as planned. Yet God rarely seems to operate that way. Instead, He offers His presence and asks for my trust. Perhaps you've found yourself there too, standing between what is familiar and what God is calling you into next.

Beloved, courage is not the absence of fear. It is choosing to move forward in obedience despite uncertainty. Joshua understood this tension well. He was stepping into an assignment much larger than himself, following in the footsteps of Moses and leading God's people into a new chapter. Yet God's encouragement was not a detailed explanation of every obstacle Joshua would face. It was a promise: "I am with you." The same promise belongs to you. The Lord has already seen the end of the story. He knows every victory, every challenge, every lesson, and every provision awaiting you along the way. What feels uncertain to you is completely known to Him. His grace will accompany every step He asks you to take, supplying the strength, wisdom, and ability you need for the journey.

Today, stop waiting until you feel completely ready. Faith rarely feels comfortable. If God has been nudging you toward a decision, a new opportunity, a difficult conversation, or a fresh season of growth, take the step. Trust that His presence is greater than your uncertainty. Trust that His grace is already waiting where He is leading you. You do not have to know everything about your next season to walk confidently into it. You only need to know the One who is going with you. Beloved, be strong, be courageous, and take the step.

Reflection Pause: What step have you been hesitant to take because you don't know the outcome? How might your perspective change if you focused more on God's presence than on the uncertainties ahead?

Prayer Moment

Father, thank You for going before me and walking beside me. Give me the courage to trust You with my next step and the faith to follow wherever You lead. In Jesus' name, Amen.
