When You're Ready

Scripture

His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him. - 2 Peter 1:3

The Lord is intimately acquainted with us. He's witnessed all of our experiences-those that empowered us and those that damaged us. Because God is the author of our lives, nothing we experience—good or bad—ever surprises Him. He doesn’t directly cause painful things to happen, but He has given us the gift of free will. Even so, He already knew the choices we would make and the choices others would make that affect us. He's used it all to drive us to His divine purpose. Jeremiah 29:11 states, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Because He knows this, He brings us to the point of revelation when we're ready to receive it.

In education, lessons are designed to match a child’s developmental stage and their ability to understand new information. Teachers and new levels of knowledge are introduced only when students are ready for them. This is also how God works with His children. He has already authored your story, and He knows exactly when you are able to receive deeper revelation about yourself and about Him. When the time is right, He will reveal what you need to know. But what does “ready” really mean? If we look again at the school system, we see that even though a hundred students may be in the same grade, their readiness to learn is not the same. Some differences are biological, but others come from the students themselves. When a student doesn’t study, pay attention, or complete assignments, they slow down their own learning. The same is true for believers. When we rarely spend time with God, seldom study His Word, and pray only occasionally, we hinder our own spiritual growth. As a result, deeper revelation becomes rare. Growth requires intentionality—communion with God, obedience, and a heart that seeks Him.

Beloved, there are some truths about God and about ourselves that we only receive after consistently walking with Him. Spiritual maturity comes in stages, and we grow into those stages through steady obedience, communion, and devotion to the Lord. Yes Beloved, He knows every painful experience you’ve faced. But He also knows you’re not ready to confront everything all at once. When you reach a certain level of maturity—through His grace and with Him right beside you—you will be able to face the hurt and finally heal. You haven’t missed anything. You haven’t fallen behind. This is the lifelong journey of every believer. We cultivate a deep relationship with Him, we grow, and when the time is right, He brings healing in the areas we’re ready to face.

Prayer

Father, thank you for giving us what we need in the time we need it. Amen.
