Scripture

Think about things of heaven, not the things on earth. -Colossians 3:2

We've been on this journey long enough to know that there will be hills and valleys. There have been days where I've felt invincible-that I can take on the whole world. Then there have been other days where I've wanted to hide under the covers and never come out. I used to allow those days of the valley to shape my emotions, thoughts, and speech.  I used to allow my mood to be shaped by circumstances and external stimuli, which made me unstable. However, God did not call us to a fickle faith. No matter what we are facing, He is STILL good and He is STILL worthy of our devotion. Our hallelujah is not predicated on our situations, challenges, frustrations, or disappointments. Let's face this, Beloved. We're going to experience tough and uncertain times in life. Since this is this the truth, we cannot allow ourselves to be tossed to and fro by the winds. We must set our minds on things of heaven or things above, not on our current situations. The song says, "No matter what comes my way, hallelujah anyhow." We must have an anyhow kind of faith.

We must will ourselves to trust God. When things go awry, He must be the first choice, not the last resort. Colossians 3:1 says, "Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God's right hand." It starts with remembering who we are. We may be facing challenges, but the reality of heaven is that our God will supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory. Anxiety and worry may set in, but the reality of heaven is that we don't have to be anxious for nothing, but everything in prayer and supplication we can make our request known to Him. We must intentionally  train our focus on things that are above. Let's not only practice this amidst trials, but when things are going well. Our focus on the realities of heaven should be the standard. That way when trials come, nothing about our posture changes.

The 'anyhow' kind of faith is a posture of absolute trust in God regardless of the circumstances or outcomes. Your focus is on the truth of His Word. Your belief in Him is so steadfast that nothing shakes you. Think of the three Hebrew boys, they said this to the king, "If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, your majesty. But even if He doesn't, we want to make it clear to you, your majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue that you set up." (Daniel 3:17-18). They were up against certain death and their 'anyhow' kind of faith said that whether God gets them out of the trial or not, they're were still going to trust Him. This has to be our posture beloved as our minds should be on what is eternal and everlasting, like His peace, goodness, blessings, and promises. It should not be in these temporary circumstances. Remember, where your mind goes, the body will follow.

Prayer,

Father, in the midst of all that we face, our focus is on the realities of heaven. Help us to continue to maintain this position as we walk this Christian journey with you. In Jesus' name. Amen

Thank you for sharing this. This was really good. It opened up my eyes to a lot of what I had been dealing with and without even knowing, I had an anyhow type prayer. We definitely need to practice knowing who we are and who we serve.
