Pray About Everything

Scripture

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:6-7

In the Hebrew Lexicon, worry is equivalent to fear. This is contrary to the scripture, "God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind." (2 Timothy 2:17). When we're worried, we take our minds off of things above (Colossians 3:2), and put them on the situation. Additionally, we take the reins from God,  telling Him that His grace isn't sufficient. Paul telling the Philippians not to worry was a command. There are no other options outside of prayer when we face situations in life. Instead of worrying, tell God everything. Remember, He cares about what we care about. Because He knows the thoughts and plans He has for us, He already knows what we need. Because He knows what we need and Jeremiah said that His thoughts are to make us prosperous and give us an expected end, our posture before Him should be that of thanksgiving.

We're not begging Him to work the situation out; we're thanking Him for what He's already done. He's already pulled us through,  made ways for us, and opened doors that no man can shut before. Why would He fail us now? So, Beloved, we approach Him with confidence, knowing that His grace will show up for us in the situations we face. Approaching God with this posture activates the peace of God in our lives. The peace of God is beyond our ability to explain; we're just experiencing it as the storms of life are raging. The beautiful truth about God's peace is that it stands guard for our hearts and our minds. It doesn't allow the enemy to speak lies to our minds about the situation we're facing, magnifying it to make it bigger than God's promise. As a result, those lies cannot enter our hearts, and we can't confess them with our mouths.

Beloved, whatever situation this life brings to you, trust that God already knows about it. Your automatic response should be to cast your cares upon Him with thanksgiving. We must be reminded of this spiritual truth and actively apply it. When we do this, our faith is being strengthened, our minds are being renewed, and our hearts are knitted together just a little tighter to His.

Prayer

Father, we thank you today for your peace. We shift our focus from our problems to your provision and faithfulness. We give thanks that you've supplied every one of our needs, and we're grateful that your grace is sufficient even in difficult circumstances. In Jesus' name. Amen
