Scripture
I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. -Philippians 4:13
Have you ever had one of those days where seemingly everything that could go wrong went wrong? You had every intention of showing up on time to the appointment, but something happened before you left home, and now you’re late. You had carefully planned your to-do list for the day, but due to a series of unexpected events, virtually nothing on your list got accomplished. Perhaps you have created a routine in your life and worked perfectly, until it didn’t. Try as we might, Beloved, things are going to happen in our lives that will throw us off kilter. What do we do when the unexpected happens and our regular schedule program is disrupted? We keep going and do it anyway.
When we’re thrown out of balance like this, have we considered that our resolve is being tested? God has given each of us a vision, and He has a plan for our lives that we must live out. As we’re fulfilling our call and bringing the vision to pass, we must trust that no matter what we face in our lives, He will see us through. So often, we declare victory over our lives and over situations we face, but when the heat turns up, discouragement sets in. Whether there are major or minor disruptions, we must remember that we can do all things through Christ, who gives us strength. The circumstances never determine our outcome. That is, if we refuse to allow it. When the unexpected happens, this is when we lean into the Holy Spirit and allow Him to give us strategy.
It is in these times that you learn the most about yourself. Do you possess the discipline to keep going amid adversity? Do you have the resolve that you’re going to do it anyway when the obstacles are surmounted? Paul prayed for strength to endure the unendurable for the Colossians. He prayed that they would cultivate mental and spiritual resilience through hope and divine intervention. Beloved, no matter the obstacles and unexpected situations that are thrown at you today, be encouraged to keep going and do it anyway.
Prayer
Father, we claim your promise that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Thank you for the strength, power, and endurance you provide for us. Empower us with inner strength to keep going through your Spirit. In Jesus’ Name. Amen
