But it so happened that when Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he was furious and very indignant and mocked the Jews. Tobiah the Ammonite, who was standing beside him, remarked, "That stone wall would collapse if even a fox walked along top of it." -Nehemiah 4:1;3
Beloved, whenever God commissions us to build, obey, or step into something new, opposition often rises to meet us. Nehemiah and the people of Judah were doing exactly what God instructed, yet mockery and intimidation came immediately. This is a pattern in Scripture: obedience attracts resistance, not because the assignment is flawed, but because the enemy fears its impact. When God calls us forward, He already knows the weight of the task, the stretch it will require, and the courage it will demand. And as we align our hearts with His will — even imperfectly — He supplies strength, wisdom, and supernatural endurance for every step. Alignment is not about feeling capable; it’s about trusting the One who called us.
When God commissioned me to step into ministry and make significant shifts in my career, I was excited at first. I could sense the maturity, growth, and transformation He was inviting me into. But soon, discouragement crept in. So much of what He asked felt far beyond my comfort zone. I remember praying, “Father, I don’t know how to do this. This is bigger than I expected. These changes feel so unfamiliar.” Fear was trying to settle in. I didn’t want to disappoint God, and I didn’t want fear to silence my obedience. The enemy often uses intimidation — just as Sanballat and Tobiah did — to make us question whether we’re capable of fulfilling what God has spoken. But in prayer, the Holy Spirit reminded me that I walk with the Spirit of Truth. He would counsel me, guide me, and teach me how to carry out the assignment. What felt overwhelming became possible as I aligned my steps with His leading.
Beloved, do not let fear or discouragement talk you out of what God has called you to do. The enemy’s strategy is always the same: intimidate the obedient, mock the faithful, and discourage the willing. But God’s strategy is also the same: He equips those He calls. He provides the resources, strength, clarity, and wisdom needed for every assignment. If He commissioned you, He will sustain you. The Holy Spirit is inviting you today to silence every voice of intimidation and lean into His counsel. You are not building alone. You are not stepping forward in your own strength. The God who called you is the God who carries you — and He will complete the work He began in you.

Prayer Moment
Father, we choose to rely on the Holy Spirit for strength and counsel as we walk out Your assignments. Lead us, guide us, and steady our hearts as we obey You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
