Scripture
Now to him who can do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. - Ephesians 3:20
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, and He plays a vital role in our lives. We received Him and His fullness at salvation. He desires for His ministry to be known and understood by Christians. While in prayer, I heard Him whisper that in some churches, He is not known, and in others, He can't do much work. "According to his power that works within us" is a key to understanding the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. This scripture means the degree to which we allow the Holy Spirit to work in us either limits the flow of His power through us, or His power flows like a river. It's all according to our yieldedness to Him. The Holy Spirit is the curator and the conveyor of God's power. In Acts 10:38, Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit and power. Acts 1:8 Jesus said that the disciples would receive power when the Holy Spirit came upon them.
Christians need to understand the ministry of the Holy Spirit and have a rich fellowship with Him. John 7:38 states, "....out of your belly shall flow rivers of living waters." From where does this river flow? In Revelation, the river flows from the throne of God, and similarly, the rivers of living waters flow from the throne established in us as we make Jesus Lord over our lives. Because you have given allowance for that throne to be replicated within you, there must be a parallel expression that a river, which is the Holy Spirit, flows through your spirit as well. In full operation, the river brings life and healing to the world.
So, why isn't the power experienced in churches and the life of believers to the fullest extent? Why do we fail to see healings and breakthroughs, although we faithfully believe? Why do we observe some Christians walking in great power while others do not? Beloved, perhaps it has to do with the level of yieldedness to the Holy Spirit. A believer will never be able to transmit the power of the Holy Spirit beyond the level of alignment and allowance that he or she, as a vessel, gives Him. Remember the scripture says, ".....according to his power that works within us." God desires great things to happen through us because the world needs us, but our lack of submission to Him clogs up the flow of His power from a mighty river to mere drips from a faucet. Beloved, what is your level of yieldedness to the Holy Spirit?
Prayer,
Father, we yield fully to your Holy Spirit today. Transform us so that your power can flow freely through us to this broken world. We're willing to be vessels used for your glory. In Jesus' name. Amen
